July News and Class Calendar

Summer is a busy time at The Running Stitch.  We have new classes, fabulous sales and events all coming up for you in July and August.  We are pleased to be participating in the Row by Row Experience and Bernina is offering a discount when you purchase your kit.  Check out our class calendar as well as other items below in this Newsflash.

Have a great summer and enjoy the wonderful weather.

In August athletes from around the world will gather in Rio for the 2016 Summer Olympics; and quilters will share in the enthusiasm at the TRS Sewlympics.  Show your Sewlympic spirit by showing off your piecing skills.  Each participant will receive a kit with fabric for your block along with instructions to piece three different blocks.

Each block will have a score based on degree of difficulty.  Complete one block of your choice in the time slot assigned to you (in Olympic speak - heat) and hand in for judging.  A small kit fee of $10 and pre-registration is mandatory.  Registration is open until 5pm July 23rd. Yes, you can enter more than once (it is our rules after all).  All event time slots (heats) will take place in the classroom at The Running Stitch where referees will be present (sounds official).  You will be able to sign up for your heat during the Opening Ceremony Wednesday August 3rd

Complete requirements and scoring details are available on the TRS website.  Don't miss out on the fun and register today.

News Flash, January 20th

Hi fellow quilters. At The Running Stitch we are always working on better ways to serve our customers. Communication is key as you know and I am always striving for best. So here it is, every time I think I have the need to share some information with all of you, I will use this template. If you see News Flash coming in your email it means that I will advertise an event and /or share ideas. Most of the News Flash will be short and to the point ...

So speaking of ideas. My friend Marion sent me something the other day, and I thought it was awesome. Did you hear about 365 Challenge? This project consists of 365 blocks (one a day) and you can download them free of charge. How cool? They are proposing a couple of lines of fabrics but you can choose to do it in any colour or even with your scraps.

You can find this project on Facebook or you can visit the website http://www.365challenge.com.au. I know we are late, we need to do 21 blocks in a hurry ... but don't you think it will be worth your while? Let me know if you are doing it -- I printed 21 blocks already -- so this is the first step, I have to choose my colours -- and start sewing -- I have to admit I love the quilt!!!!
