Michèle Santerre
Michèle was first bitten by the Quilting B(ug) when she took her first quilting lesson in Silverside, Nova Scotia where Michèle, Raymond and their daughter Karina were living in 1985. The course was for a sampler and was done completely by hand from the first cut to sewing the border in place. It wasn’t an easy task for Michèle, at that time she did not speak English and Raymond had to translate the instructions for her to follow the course.
It wasn’t until ten years later when the family was living in Ottawa that Michèle was “bitten” once again when she was walking by “Seams Sew Perfect” and saw “a beautiful sampler quilt” in the window. She signed up for the course given by Anne Donaghy and has been quilting ever since.
The family home became a Bed and Breakfast where Michèle satisfied her passion for cooking and running a Quilting School. Along with organizing retreats in tranquil settings for her quilters “to get away from it all” for three days of inspiration and sewing; Michèle staged quilt shows in her garden. She also managed to keep up with her other activities which included knitting, crafts and gardening.
Michèle believes that every individual has a creative side, she endeavors along with her staff at The Running Stitch to take her customers to the next level.
